Post Traumatic Stress Disorder & the Jackie Rickert Medical Marijuana Act

For those patients suffering with PSTD, you may want to research the Jackie Rickert Medical Marijuana Act (Wisconsin). The act includes PSTD (among others) in the list of debilitating conditions.  What a step in the right direction...

Basic Listings Always Free...Many Patients Seeking Caregivers/Physicians

Well...we have resisted for almost six months, but have finally decided to allow paid advertising on the site.  We really didn't want to go that route, but we are getting a lot of e-mails from patients in need of caregivers and physicians.  The folks here are thinking that if we provide the basic listings free of charge that more caregivers and physicians will add themselves to the locator tool.  And the paid advertising will help us pay back the patient who funded the site...and allow for us to do more community related support activities in the future.

All Listings Free Through the End of the Year

I know, I know.  It's really just better this way - the more patients that can find caregivers/physicians the better.

Feds to Issue New Medical Marijuana Policy

This news comes with a large sigh of relief...

Free Listings Extended through October!

Because last month went pretty well...! We are continuing to offer free six month basic listings to caregivers and physicians...just for submitting a forum entry.  It's easy...just make a forum post in any of our three forums (general forum, caregiver specific, or physician specific forum, take your pick!).  Then, go to your "My Account" page to create a basic listing.  Listings created in October are free, and will be published on the site through April.  :)

All Listings Free in September...and Forums Are Up!

To celebrate the launch of our forums (at last!), we are offering free six month basic listings to caregivers and physicians...just for submitting a forum entry.  It's easy...just make a forum post in any of our three forums (general forum, caregiver specific, or physician specific forum, take your pick!).  Then, go to your "My Account" page to create a basic listing.  Listings created in September are free, and will be published on the site through March.  Enjoy!

Forums are Still Down!

You may have noticed that our forums don't show any posts.  We have been having some technical difficulties getting the permissions set up - hold tight, we are hoping they will be up and running by 9/1.  We are very excited about the forums, in particular our physician specific and caregiver/dispensary specific forums.  In the physician specific forum, for example, only other physicians are able to view and post topics.  If you have any ideas for new forum topics, in any of the three forums, please send us an e-mail at suggestions@aommc.org.

Add Your Compassion Club to the Locator Tool!

Did you know...we have a compassion club section on our locator tool?  If you belong to a compassion club that you would like to list on the locator tool, just send us an e-mail at compassionclublistings@aommc.org with your compassion club name, e-mail and website (if you have one), and we will add it to the tool for you!

Read Our E-Mail to Gil Kerlikowske, Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy

Gil Kerlikowske, the new Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, recently stated publicly to the Fresno Bee that marijuana has no medical benefit.

We reviewed this article by ASA, and posted a comment to the Opposing Views website.  Additionally, we sent an e-mail (below) to Director Kerlikowske requesting that he review the studies available on the benefits of medical marijuana.

CBS should retract "Druggie Reference".

I know that I have mentioned this in a previous blog...but it seems worth going back over it.  It is becoming more and more clear to me that society's perception of medical marijuana patients has to change before we are going to get the traction to change the law.  The subject of this article, published by CBS this morning, is the legalization of marijuana in California - and not just for medical purposes.  According to the article, 56 percent of California voters polled said marijuana sh
